How Funky Chips Went Viral -And Built a Queue Down the Block

Sometimes, all it takes is one well-timed move to flip the switch - and Funky Chips was the perfect example.

Back when the concept was still fresh, vibrant, and just getting its name out in London, I saw the potential straight away: bold branding, craveable visuals, and food that practically begged to be filmed. It had all the ingredients to go viral - it just needed the right spark.

The Strategy Behind the Boom

To kick things off, I invited down a high-impact influencer - someone with the right mix of food credibility, loyal followers, and camera presence. The content that came out of that visit exploded. Millions of views. Thousands of comments. A line down the block.

And that was just the beginning.

What Followed:

  • Influencers started flooding in - organically. One viral post turned into dozens.

  • TikToks and reels started generating hour-long queues, with customers travelling across the city just to try “that place they saw online.”

  • Funky Chips rapidly expanded - first growing their original site, then opening new locations to keep up with demand.

What Worked?

The magic wasn’t just the influencer - it was the timing, the look, the vibe, and the full content strategy that positioned Funky Chips as more than just food. It became an experience. The kind people wanted to be part of - and show off online.

And Then...

After the initial success, Funky Chips moved in a new direction - which meant I stepped away. But the momentum that launched their rise came from those early days, built on the kind of strategic content thinking that doesn’t just chase trends - it starts them.
